ENERGY ASSESSMENT

Receive Your Free Assessment

IUPUI has recently established the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC).  This initiative is in response to the nation’s urgent need in improving energy efficiency in both manufacturing and commercial buildings. The recently passed Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has put energy efficiency as one of the top priorities. In supporting the DOE goal, IUPUI will work with BOMA Indiana members to offer workshops on energy efficiency and free energy assessments that the City of Indianapolis ordinance requires.

BOMA Indiana supports the Department of Energy (DOE) program entitled "Industrial Assessment Center - Boosting Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings".  BOMA Indiana understands the importance of energy efficiency and its impact on our members and the nation.  We applaud the DOE’s initiative to extend the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) program to cover commercial buildings.  We firmly believe training and education is necessary not only for energy efficiency personnel, such as building managers and engineers, but also for building owners.  The opportunities for buildings to be audited with comprehensive reports will provide evidence and quantitative data for the decision-making building owners.  These reports will undoubtedly help implementation of energy efficiency related recommendations.

BOMA Indiana is committed to support the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology located in Indianapolis on this project and confirm our members will benefit from it.   We will help promote the program to our members, collaborate with the school to provide training through seminars/workshops, and encourage our building owners to have their buildings audited with the understanding that these audits will be fully paid for by DOE.

How Can You Qualify?

Commercial building owners benefit from energy efficiency improvement, especially when energy cost is increasing inevitably. It reduces cost and preserves the environment. The Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) at IUPUI is a program funded by the Department of Energy (DOE) to provide energy assessments for qualified buildings free of charge. For each audit, our audit team, led by a certified auditor, will identify opportunities to make your building more energy efficient, which will be detailed in a comprehensive report. The report will explain the energy saving recommendations, provide utility benchmark and baseline analytics, estimate implementation costs and payback times. It can serve as the baseline for future improvement projects. This process is confidential. The savings directly add to the company profit. The decision for implementation is yours. There is no obligation. For more information, please go to our website, https://iac.iupui.edu, for details. The website demonstrates the current practice for manufacturing companies. We have completed energy audits for 168 Indiana Manufacturing companies. We will update the website with information on commercial building assessments.

If you are interested in receiving this free energy audit by our IAC, please fill out the form under “Apply: Assessment Application” in our website, for a qualification check. Once qualified, we will contact you and schedule the energy audit. Please contact us if you have more questions.
